The Anderson House

a Brief History

The Anderson House Restaurant and Inn is situated on the corner of 1st St. and Main St. in downtown Heber Springs, Ark. Built in 1883 the building originally housed the Frauenthal Theater. By the year 1912 the public school system began using the building as an overflow annex classroom until the new school on Main St. was completed. Between 1915 and 1918 it was known as the Cleveland Hotel. In 1918 Dr. Matthews, who was the first doctor in the area to have attended medical school, remodeled the building for use as a clinic. Dr. Matthews sold the building to Lee Hipp around 1928. Mr. Hipp added a front section to the building and set up a boarding house. This later became the Hipp Hotel, then the Park View Hotel. In the years since the name and ownership has changed a few times.

Under new management, we are pleased to present The Anderson House Restaurant and Inn. Newly remodeled, the Inn boasts 14 rooms, a private club, and a fine dining restaurant with world class cuisine and wine list. In maintaining the historic integrity of the building you will find period antiques and handmade quilts in our guest rooms. Come downstairs to our luxurious Great Room to enjoy the Arkansas fieldstone fireplace, WiFi, a big screen TV, or a drink from the private club. The parlor provides ample space for your business meeting, reception, or private party. Pay us a visit to see how world class cuisine meets Southern hospitality!
